Convergencia Latina: Saint Martin launches its IXP under CaribIX project

Saint-Martin has launched its Internet Exchange Point (IXP), the Smart-IX, located in the city of Marigot, under CARIBIX, a project coordinated by the Caribbean Telecommunications Union.

Through an IXP memorandum of understanding (MoU), the interconnection of networks has already begun and initially involves Dauphin Telecom, the company of TIC Computech and operator TelEm Group.

SBH-IX is born. On Thursday June 30, the key players in the development of telecommunications on Saint-Barth gathered around the table in the marriage hall of the Collectivité territoriale to sign the agreements that will see the IXP system installed on the island. This Internet interconnection project has been under study for many years. Seven years, to be precise, since a congress was held in Guadeloupe at which the launch of the Caribix project was discussed.
